North Cornwall town gets chance to lead green energy bid

Experts from across the renewable energy sector will be talking with North Cornwall residents this weekend in an effort to plough 300,000 into community projects.

The Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN) are allowing residents and businesses to register an interest in putting the town "at the forefront" of tackling climate change.

Plans will be revealed to offer householders, businesses and landowners the opportunity to host photovoltaic solar panels on their properties and land, from which they will be able to take advantage of free electricity with the surplus energy generating an income which will be ploughed into community projects.

The scheme aims to produce 30 per cent of Wadebridge's electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2015.
